Friday Folders will serve as a wonderful mode of communication
between the parents and the teacher throughout the school year. Every Friday
this folder will be sent home filled with completed and assessed work from the
week, school notices, and a classroom newsletter titled The Gaipa Gazette (which
may end up being posted online only). Your child is responsible for bringing
the folder home and sharing the work and notices inside with a parent and/or
guardian. After all the papers have been reviewed and removed from the folder,
parents are to sign the sign-in sheet kept in the left pocket and have your
child return the empty folder (with the exception of the sign-in sheet)on
Monday. Feel free to write any notes or questions in the comments section of
the sign-in sheet.
***Daily snack time will be during the mid-morning. Please send in a healthy
snack and drink daily (no candy, soda). Please be advised that due to
allergies, all snacks and birthday treats cannot contain any kind of peanuts.***
Gainfield School Daily Assignment Pads will be used in all grade 2-5
classrooms. Your child will receive this book on the first day of school. Each
day, all homework will be recorded in the assignment pad and brought home with
the necessary books. Please help to ensure that your child completes the
homework by checking the assignment pad daily. Signing the assignment pad is
only required for the first two weeks of school, however will be required
further if completing homework becomes a problem.
Homework will be assigned on an average of 4 days a week (excluding Fridays,
except for long term projects). All homework will be written in the Daily
Assignment Pad. The first missing assignment merits a warning. A second
missing assignment leads to a note sent home to inform you of the missing
assignment. Students are also required to read independently each night.
We will be switching classes for science and social studies with Mrs. Carrubba
three times a week. I will teach social studies, she will teach science.
Water bottles are permitted on students’ desks if there is hot weather. Feel
free to send one in for your child (water only, please).
Nowadays, email is the most convenient way to communicate. When contacting me
with questions, ideas, or concerns, please do so through email: mgaipa@region15.org
Note for Specials:
Please provide a smock for art classes.
Recorders are required for music class each week (once they are distributed).
Please have your child dress appropriately on P.E. days (sneakers, no dresses).
I look forward to working with you and your child this year!
